The Fourteenth Key to Lasting Prosperity:
Dear Wealth Creator,
When you decide to make a lot of money it's very easy to go for it, full on, and forget about other priorities. You get so focused on one outcome - financial wealth - you can forget that in order to be truly happy you need to have a fully rounded life.
Once, a long time ago, I sought the advice of a psychic. I asked her what I could do to become rich. She answered, "Take up oil painting."
Totally bemused by this, I pressed her: "But what should I do to become wealthy - and soon." She replied, "Spend time in your garden, looking at clouds."
To be honest I thought she was nuts.
But over the coming months I did as she said. I took up painting and discovered a talent I never knew I possessed. And, as I sat in the garden and stared at clouds, I also discovered a mental 'zone' that had been missing from my life. A zone that enabled me to relax and really think about how I spent my time.
And sure enough, within just under two years, I had more money coming in than I'd ever dreamed of. It was almost surreal - to be considering the responsibilities of wealth and some of the consequences of being rich was a profoundly significant event in my life. It changed me.
More importantly, it reminded me of the psychic's advice - finding time for yourself, to relax and meditate can be more useful to you than any kind of wealth building activity.
I guess it's about being a whole person, learning to be comfortable with yourself and enjoying the journey, rather than struggling.
I believe the Universe wants all of us to be rich. But most times we don't behave in a way that the Universe can respond to in a positive way. But if we're relaxed, patient and happy, it can - and does.
